Basic principle of red light therapy

Red light therapy uses special LED lamps that emit light in the red and near-infrared range. Here, we'd like to explain the effects of these red light lamps in more detail. The light penetrates deep into your skin and reaches the cells. Unlike sunlight, no harmful UV rays are used that could damage the skin. Instead, only the soothing and safe red and near-infrared light is used.

The light penetrates the skin to a depth of several centimeters. Red light primarily reaches the upper layers of the skin, while infrared light penetrates deeper, also reaching muscles and tissue.

2| Absorption by the mitochondria

The mitochondria in cells, often called the "powerhouses of the cell," absorb light. The light is absorbed by receptors, the light-sensitive molecules in the mitochondria (especially cytochrome c oxidase). It's as if the mitochondria were tiny solar panels that absorb light and convert it into energy.

This absorption of light leads to an increase in the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the main energy carrier in cells. With more ATP, cells can work more efficiently and perform their functions better. 4| Promoting cell repair and growth

Increased ATP production accelerates cell repair and growth. This means that damaged cells heal faster and new, healthy cells are formed more quickly. It's as if your body activates an internal repair service that replaces damaged parts quickly and effectively.
